PK-5: Tis the Season- Fall, Pumpkins and Halloween!

I LOVE FALL! Over the years I have posted some activities to celebrate Halloween, pumpkins and fall.  I thought you might want to revisit a couple of these activities from past posts, but I also have some new things to share with you.

First, here is an Nearpod lesson I created that will help students demonstrate their understanding of equivalent fractions.

Students match the equivalent fractions.

Students write an equivalent fraction.

I know many of you are using Seesaw.  I found a few Seesaw activities and created a couple of activities you might want to assign to your students.  (If you haven't tried using the "Activities" feature in Seesaw and would like my help as you get started, please let me know!)

I created this lesson for Pre-K and Kindergarten students.  It is a lesson to review parts of the pumpkin.  This one will provide labels for the students to tap and drag on the appropriate spot.  OR you could let your students start with a blank page and start this one from scratch.  I LOVE letting students start from scratch whenever possible.  I don't like the students work to look alike.  This is a great opportunity to differentiate for your students.  You can let some start from scratch and some use the tap and drag version of the activity.

The next activity I created would be great as a quick formative assessment to check your students' number sense... specifically counting to 20.

The following is an activity I found in Seesaw.  Students decorate the pumpkin.  They can record a description of the pumpkin.  Notice students could also label the pumpkin with adjectives. Or they could also write sentences.  Other writing options include a narrative about a pumpkin or a poem about the pumpkin.

Next, we have a Pumpkin Life Cycle activity!  This would serve as a good start for students who are studying life cycles and expository writing.

Here is one last Seesaw/writing Opportunity.  Students disguise the pumpkin and then write a paragraph convincing the reader they are not a pumpkin and explaining or describing what they are.

This next activity is by Christine Pinto who is known for her blog and her book, Google Apps for Littles. This is a Google Sheets graphing activity in which students graph fall leaves.  You will be able to assign this in Google Classroom.  Or you can complete it with your class as a whole group.

To edit the picture and add the leaves you have to click on the picture and click on the 3 dots in the top right corner and choose edit.

Then the picture will open up in Google Drawing and students can add the leaves to the tree and click the blue Save and Close button when they are finished.

Students can use the fill bucket to complete the graph and add the numbers to the table.
